Caring for your collection
BHOJ dinnerware and cutlery are made to be used, at ordinary meals as well as the evenings you remember.
Care guidance for your specific pieces arrives with your collection. Until then, this page gives the careful general advice we would give a friend.
Your care guide
Every collection comes with a care guide written for its own pieces, glaze and finish. It is the authority on caring for your collection, and it supersedes anything general on this page.
Glazed dinnerware
Wash the pieces of your NEELĀ dinner set by hand in warm water with a mild detergent and a soft cloth, then dry them straight away. Keep abrasive pads and scouring powders away from the glaze and the rims, and avoid sudden changes of temperature, such as a hot dish set down on cold stone.
Cutlery
Wash your ĀBHĀ cutlery set soon after use and dry it at once with a soft cloth, which keeps water marks off the finish. Do not leave pieces to soak. Once dry, return each piece to its sleeve.
Dishwasher, microwave and oven
We will state dishwasher, microwave and oven suitability only after the production pieces have been tested. Until your care guide confirms it, please wash by hand and keep the pieces out of the microwave and the oven.
The walnut chest
Keep the chest out of direct sun and away from damp and heat. Dust it with a dry, soft cloth. It is made to keep your collection between uses, so let it stay where the collection lives.
The lining
Keep the lining dry, and brush it lightly. Brush velvet and suede with a soft clothes brush, in the direction of the pile. Let every piece dry completely before it goes back into its place.
The bronze plaque
Wipe the plaque with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use metal polish unless your care guide recommends one; the guide also explains how the plaque’s finish will change with time.
If a piece breaks
Message us with a photograph, and we will tell you what can be done. We can make an identified replacement for a broken piece. It belongs to your set and keeps its number; it never creates a new numbered set. Replacements are quoted when you ask, with the timing confirmed then.
